FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1) Should I cut the t-shirts?

No - Please DO NOT cut the t-shirts. You should wash them and write your name on the inside hem of the side of the shirt you want to use (front, back, or both). I will cut the t-shirts after the interfacing is applied. If you want the leftover pieces of the t-shirt back, please request this on the order form. Otherwise, I will dispose of the t-shirt pieces that are not used in the quilt.

2) Can I use any other kind of clothing other than t-shirts?

Yes - Sweatshirts, jerseys, jackets, tank tops, cheerleader tops and shorts can all be used. Some of these require extra sewing to make them work. There is a $5.00 per block charge for extra sewing.

3) What size will my quilt be?

It depends on how many t-shirts you use. The sizes we offer are as follows:
(Want a different size? Just ask!)

# of t-shirts Quilt Size Backing Fabric Needed(Optional)
36 squares 102 x 102 inches 9 yards
30 squares 86 x 102 inches 9 yards
25 squares 86 x 86 inches 7 1/2 yards
24 squares 70 x 102 inches 6 yards
20 squares 70 x 86 inches 5 1/2 yards
16 squares 71 x 71 inches 4 1/2 yards
12 squares 55 x 71 inches 3 1/2 yards

4) Do I need to send any fabric for the top or back of the quilt?

No - Everything needed to complete the quilt (except the t-shirts) is provided by SoSews and is included in the price. All the fabrics we use are solid colors.

5) Can I use other fabric for the back of the quilt?

Yes - You must purchase it and send it with your t-shirts. The fabric you use for the back of the quilt can be any 100% cotton fabric you want. The backing is a chance to make the quilt much more unique and interesting. The backing fabric can relate to what is on the front, such as baseball fabric if you used a lot of baseball jerseys on the front. But the back of the quilt does not have to relate to the front of the quilt at all. You can make the quilt more personal to you by choosing any thing you like. Such as ... a color you like, maybe your wild about horses or frogs, motorcycle fabric, a sports team you like, 70's fabric, something wild, stripes, plaids, flowers. Anything goes. Be creative, reflect your personality. Just remember -- 100% cotton.

6) Where can I purchase fabric for the backing of the quilt?

Fabric can be purchased at any fabric store near you, such as local quilt shops, Hancock Fabrics, JoAnn's, Hobby Lobby, etc. Or there are some great online fabric stores. Hancock's of Paducah and Big Horn Quilts both have a good selection.

7) How do I care for my quilt?

Your quilt can be machine washed in cold water, gentle cycle. Hang dry or tumble dry on the lowest heat setting. The less often you wash and dry the quilt, the longer it will last. A roller used for pet hair/lint removal is great for surface cleaning the quilt between washings and using one can extend the life of your quilt.
